In response to the current stage of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, and in line with government and NHS England guidance, our Physiotherapy Outpatients Service will be delivering a reduced provision for the community of Mid Essex over the coming months. We are currently looking at other ways for people to receive early and effective physiotherapy support using digital systems and technology, in a safe and convenient environment.
Access to the service will be via a Mid Essex GP referral. All referrals will undergo a robust risk stratification and triage process at the point of entry and will need to meet the locally agreed NHS-commissioned service criteria. Service users will receive the most appropriate level of care based on their clinical needs, in order to assist them in managing their musculoskeletal condition effectively.
In order to protect our service users, staff, and the wider community from the risk of COVID-19 our service may be delivered in different ways to how they were previously. The service will make recommendations on whether face-to-face physiotherapy is required as part of treatment, although the majority of service users will be successfully treated using virtual methods of communication. These includes video consultations, as well as our excellent resources in the Self Help pages on this website, which provide the best and most up-to-date information on how to manage many different musculoskeletal problems quickly and effectively.
If you have been referred to us for treatment by your GP you will be contacted by our Care Co-ordination Centre, who will confirm we have received your referral and outline what happens next. If you experience any changes in your symptoms you can inform the Care Co-ordination Centre via phone or email, Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm.
